[mapguide-users] Ping mapguide server

Is there an efficient way to ping the mapguide server (as opposed to the Web
server) to determine if the former is running? I see that there are calls
you can make using mapviewerphp\serveradminhelper.php, but those involve
creating a new connection. Is there a simpler way?
