You can install as superuser using the sudo prefix if your admins can set
you up as such. You don't have to be the root user to install.

Subject: [mapguide-users] MG Server Install - without root access

Hello MG Users,

Do you know if it is possible to install the Linux flavor of MapGuide Open
Source without root access?

My internet service provider (vegaswifi.net) is similar to other ISPs which
give you a linux virtual server. Problem is the account password doesn't
give you root (system administrator) access. So, if MapGuide Server install
requires root access, is there a list of which files/folders get
updated/created? Most system administrators are leery of software installs,
especially those packages requiring root access. I would think such a list
would help but them at ease.

Thanks for the assistance,

Jeff Jensen
