I had noticed that same error on one of my sites that I had migrated.  The
map contained a layer definition where the ODBC datasource connection did
not exist on that server.  I would only see that error when trying to select
ANY object.  As soon as I removed the offending layer, the map worked okay.
Maybe there is something similar happening in this case.
