Yeah, I'm with you on that. Apache is so much easier to configure and get
things working. Unfortunately it doesn't help us when customers require
that development be done in .NET.....

Your "too many connections" problem is a limitation of IIS on XP. There is
some information here on how to override it.

Hi,
We've been trying to setup test environments and demo environments using
VMWare and Mapguide OpenSource 1.2 (going to move up to 2.0 shortly
however). For some reason that is beyond me, we cannot seem to get MGOS to
function properly.
After the VM is booted up and in Windows XP SP2, if we try to open either
the AJAX Viewer or any custom pages that uses MGSite::Open(...), it will
throw an Exception saying "Cannot Establish Connection". However, if we can
use the Mapguide Studio properly... saving resources, etc etc. We can even
go in the MapAgent test page and call any commands, like CreateSession and
the likes. It all works fine. It really does seem as if the problem is at
the .NET API level, where anything that goes through that API will crash and
burn.
If we keep hitting the AJAX Viewer with attempts, eventually IIS will spit
out a "Too many connections" error. If we run an IIS reset after that error
and return to the AJAX Viewer, or our custom pages, they will run without
any problems or connection exceptions.
We've built quite a bit of sites using both MGOS and MGE without these kinds
of issues. They only seem to crop up using VMWare. Is there anything
specific to VM that needs to be setup, either at the VMWare level or
Mapguide level, to make them work properly?
Thanks!
