You may need to add an exception the server's firewall if is turned on.

Subject: [mapguide-users] Administering site remotely

I am new to Mapguide Open Source. I have set up Mapguide on our company's
main server (Windows 2003) and have successfully viewed the Shobogan sample
data.

I would like to administer the server remotely from my workstation, that is,
I would like to access the Mapguide server via a web browser without having
to log in to the main server. I have tried using the
http://localhost:8008/mapguide... address but it only works if I use a web
browser on the main server. I have also tried using
http://<ourservername>:2810/mapguide.. path but it does not connect. I've
tried using the default (2810,2811,2812) server ports as well.

Is there a way to access the Mapguide server without loging in to the
company's main server? I'm not knowlegeable in networking so forgive my
ignorance.

Also, it was difficult understanding the Getting Started guide for setting
up the sample data as the installed file paths have changed with 2.1 since
the instructions were written. It would be helpful to new users to have
updated information.
