I was having a similar problem until I ensured that the users had firewall
rights to the server..you have 142.142.41.157:8008 exposed through the
firewalls and network?   

I assume it is an internal IP?  

Perhaps the computer name might give you more luck?  COMPUTERNAME:8008 for
example..

I tend to test WMS on Google Earth when I need some sanity checks..
