If you run "select geom from whatevertable where geom.STIsValid() <> 1" first, you will find out whether you have a problem or not.

Did you try update geometry in database with .MakeValid()?

We have also problems with this and simple update statement always correct the problem ...

UPDATE tName set geom = geom.MakeValid()
