[mapguide-users] query features task in sample viewers problem

I am running both the .new viewer sample and the php viewer sample, and
trying to get the query features task to work.  I have followed all the
viewer sample install notes I could find.

in the .net viewer the query feature task does not load at all and shows
compilation error:   CS0117: 'OSGeo.MapGuide.MgException' does not contain a
definition for 'GetMessage' in querymain.aspx

... switching things over to the php viewer, the query features task fully
loads, correctly shows layer and field pickers, can draw spatial filter,
etc, but pressing execute button nothing happens.  Checking firebug I see
post to querycontroller.php looks perfect, but then shows 500 internal
server error.

Any tips to get the query features task working from the sample viewers?
