[mapguide-users] Performance on prerendering tiles by use of
MgCooker

For a rough estimate of the number of tiles at 1:1000,
Assuming the computer monitor has a 0.25mm pixel size, there are 4000 pixels in one meter of "monitor space". At 1:1000, there are 4 pixels per meter (25 cm or ~1 foot raster resolution).
If each tile is 300x300 pixels, then each tile will represent a 75m x 75m area at 1:1000.
Lower left x=713333 y=90707
Upper right x=716225 y=94906
The width and height of the target area is 2892m by 4200m assuming the coordinates are in meters.
2892/75 x 4200/75 = 2159 tiles.
Assuming it takes 5 seconds to render a tile, 2159*5 / 3600 = 3 hours.
Something seems odd here. 500 hours is two orders of magnitude longer than what I would expect.
Regards,
Trevor

I am trying on a server (on an Oracle VM Virtual Box) with the following
parameters:
Windows Server 2003
Intel Xeon X3440 2.53GHz
RAM 2.98 GB
The features are on Ticino, Switzerland
Best regards
Francesco

in terms of state, country?
how big is your server as well?
