Hi, I had no trouble on 5.4 but haven't tried 5.5

Download the MapGuide 2.2 Beta from
http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/Release/2.2Beta/Notes

Unzip the 2 tar balls

Run the ./mgserverd.sh and ./apachectl start  to get MapGuide and Apache
running.
