thank you, i am not an expert in webserver configuration. so i renamed the
index.html in order to make it inaccessible. i know this is just a
workaround. 

my mapguide uses apache. could you provide some more details to do this?

by the way, can i safely remove the anonymous user from the users list in
order to prevent anonymous access?

i only want to permit  the users i created to access my webgis via
authentication
