[mapguide-users] scale bar image for pdf

Hi all 

is there any way i can get scale bar image without print layout.  i am
creating my own print application  and need a scale bar image that can be
placed in pdf document.   

I am creating application where i will be printing a map and bunch of other
information directly to PDF file. 
what i also want is the scale bar on the pdf file. i dont seem to have idea
how to get that. any ideas would help
