[mapguide-users] project with shapefiles

Hello 

I' m trying to plan a project in which I need to have access to thousands of
shapefiles.
The ideal plan is to have a php form in which I will call the shapefiles and
they will appear on a web gis viewer.
Using mapguide I felt that making a package is very limiting since it's size
can be only 2GB, so the package cannot fit all my data. Also, it's doubtfull
whether mapguide can manage so many files in terms of their number.
Is there any alternative?
Is there any other web gis that works in a  way that provides the
opportunity to handle such a big number of files, without having to pass
through the whole process of making a package?
