[mapguide-users] Rather simple GDAL question 1.6 /1.7 / FDO / Mapguide HUH ???

So I have been using SAGA gis for a little processing and its spitting out
these lovely sdat and sgrd files....

I'm currently using Mapguide 2.2.0.5703 and it comes standard with gdal 1.6
???

The gdal site shows that sdat/sgrd files are support from gdal 1.7 ..... is
it possible to get GDAL 1.7 working with FDO .... 3.5.0.0 or will I break
all my ecw features ?

Or is what I'm asking not going to work anyway? reading sgrd/sdat files into
mapguide ?
Specifically I'm looking at reading a lot of GRID data into mapguide is this
a good idea ?

I haven't completed converting all the data yet but the surveyors are
talking upto a terrabyte of grid data per year ... I'm producing polygons
for the extents of each survey to help reduce processing grid overlay and
make spatial searching quicker then thinking about doing some grid unioning
in the background and finally giving the result tot he user through
mapguide...
