[mapguide-users] remove layer from map

I am trying to remove a layer from the map in the function ClearSelection()
in ajaxmappane.templ 

... basically to check if a layer with a particular name exists, and if so,
remove it from the map.  Does anyone have any pointers for accomplishing
this?
