[mapguide-users] MapGuide Open Source 4.0 update

Hi All,

I want to give an update on the status of MapGuide Open Source 4.0.

I am now entering preparations for a MGOS 4.0 Preview 2 release which I am
hoping to drop early/mid next month.

Once Preview 2 is out the door, development focus will shift to the last
major blocker for MGOS 4.0. That blocker is PHP 7.x compatible bindings for
the MapGuide API. This is needed since our bundled PHP 5.6 is long past
end-of-life (support ended December 31, 2018) and is therefore no longer
suitable for production use.

You may recall the genesis of this work in my mapguide-api-bindings project
(https://github.com/jumpinjackie/mapguide-api-bindings). Once 4.0 Preview 2
is released, I will be resurrecting this work and bringing it closer to the
MapGuide source itself to speed up the development inner loop.

In the meantime, there are a few polls I need input from this community on.

1. What version of Oracle Instant Client should we build the King Oracle
FDO provider against?

The results of these 2 polls will factor into the 4.0 Preview 2 release and
future releases going forward.
