KML Support RE: [mapguide-dev] PSC Meeting Minutes Posted / Welcome Haris

Hi Greg,

 

Yes, there is some direct KML support in the Trunk stream of the server
already.  We hope to have an RFC (but it's actually an As-Designed in
this case) for this posted to the PSC in a few weeks. This will be a
first cut of the KML support, so we will be gathering feedback to see
where we can take this in the future.

 

Currently, it looks like it will support layers for feature (FDO-based)
sources including raster.  I like the fact that it also supports the
scale-dependent detail found in the layer definitions; so only the
required amount of data gets sent to Google Earth.

 

The RFC will have details.

At the risk of posting to the wrong list...  

 

I see a reference to 'KML serving' being 'in the trunk.  It sounds like
KML support is planned for a future release?  Id love to hear more about
what is planned here.
