When a MarkSymbol's fill or edge is disabled, it is still displayed with a blue fill and a gray edge.

When reading a point layer that uses a MarkSymbol with a disabled fill or edge, the fill or edge is reintroduced to the layer.

Edit the layer's default symbolization and uncheck the fill or the edge.
