The localized file was created on Windows so it contained CR/LF pairs. On Windows CR/LF pairs are automatically converted to LF when reading the file, and the code that trimed whitespaces at the end of each string was dealing fine with LF. However on Linux, there is no such convertion so the CR character ended up in the string. Because the trimming function did not account for CR being there, it remained in the string after trimming, and strings in the Javascript appeared unterminated, as the CR characters caused them to wrap on a second line.

The trim function now accounts for the presence of CR characters.
