[mapguide-users] Experiences with Oracle Spatial

Wow, I never expected to be providing commercial product support on an
open source user forum :-)

 

Out of curiosity what version of the Oracle Database Server are you
running? Rest assured we are very aware of the performance issues with
Oracle data sources and are aggressively working on them. These other
issues mentioned here however we have not seen in house so I would like
to try and get to the bottom of them as well.

Another observation of Oracle Spatial data....

 

Have you noticed the symbolization on Oracle Spatial data?   It shows a
point, line, and polygon.  I'm assuming it's because Enterprise can't
determine the feature type?  Not sure why it can't since it is contained
in the geometry of the feature.   Even Mapguide 6.x was able to figure
this out.  

 

Or maybe I'm doing something wrong, because I can't even get Enterprise
to display any of my Oracle Spatial data.

Can anyone provide some feedback to me on their experiences with the
Oracle
Spatial FDO from the Enterprise edition? Has anyone gotten it to work in
a
satisfactory manner? Are you seeing stability/performance issues? What
is
your setup?

Our experiences aren't great.  Some of our data displays but is quite
slow.
Creating a layer from an Oracle Spatial source is extremely slow (over a
minute just to start editing). I suspect this is related to the reading
of
the schema metadata, but I don't really know.

Even a simple yes or no would be helpful at this point.
