[mapguide-users] MgTileService - GetTile - Cannot establish connection

Hi Walt,

No Oracle used - just SDFs.

I am running MapGuide Enterprise Service Pack 1 in this case - but will be
using it in on machines with MapGuide Open.

Any recommendations on where to adjust the pooling?

Up the Client Connection or Site Connection - Thread Pool or Queue size?

Is there any documentation beyond the Help file in the site admin on
pooling?

Cheers,

Kori

Does your map, by chance, reference any Oracle feature sources? I don't
know the details, but I know there are connection limits with Oracle. Does
your version of MapGuide support connection pooling? If so, is it enabled?
If not, that could very well explain the problem you're seeing.

If the pooling is disabled then every GetTile request will open new
connections to your feature sources, and in your case after 50-80
back-to-back tile requests the connection limits are exceeded.

Are the lower zoom threshhold tiles rendered more quickly than other tiles?
That would support this theory even more.

connection

Hi all,

I have built a function that will pre-generate the tiles for a tiled map.

It works - but when generating for a lower zoom threshold with numerous
tiles it will generate 50-80 tiles then throw a series connection errors:

Cannot establish connection. Cannot establish connection. Exception
occurred in method MgServerConnection.Open at line 95 in file
c:\build_tux_area\mgdev\common\service\services\ServerConnection.cpp

The MapGuide Server service is then non responsive requiring a restart.

I am doing a long series of GetTile calls in sequence.

Has anybody run into this kind of connectivity problem? Is the best method
to simply pause or delay the function so the server isn't over taxed?

Cheers,
