Hi Shailesh,

I suppose you have two issues:

1. One is because of older version of Autodesk MapGuide Studio you have

2. Having Oracle Database 9.2 and MG OS with King.Oracle provider with
Oracle instant client on same machine can cause ora-12705 message you
got.
This is known issue, Oracle is setting NLS_LANG to NA in registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oracle
You need to unset this (rename, delete) but then default character set
is AMERICAN_AMERICA.US7ASCII or you can set it to correct value for your
database.

I am using King Oracle provider ver 0.4.4 and NOT 0.5.1, 
I am able to connect Oracle with Munsys which uses map 3d 2006 and
FDO2FDO, eveything is fine on that end.

I am NOT able to connect MGOS to Oracle (both my setups, one with XE and
9.2). 

On my xe-MGOS installation i used //localhost/xe 
( xe as in your demo and could copy shp to xe using fdo2fdo)

On my 9.2-MGOS installation
I connect using //localhost/oracle , 
Username/password/schema MCITY93INT (Munsys sample schema which i can
pull/query in MAP 3d 2006) 



Haris , If you don't mind can you please spare 5-10 mins on the chat on
your site ? I think that should help me a lot. Kindly Oblige.
When are you usually available in the office or on chat. I had a chat
with Saso last week but that did not help me much. and i am still stuck
where i was 10 days back.

I am out of office and not able to see .gif files but I will try to
help. 

Which version of provider are you using with Map? Latest (0.5.1) one is
not for Map just for MG OS 1.1 RC 1 (FDO 3.2). 
With MGOS 1.0.2 you should use 0.4.4 not 0.5.1 
That could explain why you are able to connect with Fdo2Fdo but not with
Map. 

With instant client you can use connection string like //machine/sid ,
for xe installation it should be like: //localhost/xe

I have been getting the same error while connecting to oracle using king
oracle provider on different/independent setups that i have 

SETUP 1 - MY LAPTOP 

I have installed 
MGOS 1.0.2 
ORACLE 9.2 
Munsys - Munsys is a software which works on map3d and oracle spatial
data. 
Munsys comes with a demo data which I have installed . the dataset is
installed in oracle 9.2 
i can open and see the spatial tables. i can pull this data in map3d
2006 , query data etc 
so everything works fine on that end. now i have to pull the same
spatial map in MapguideOS 
(please chk the attached screenshots, i can query and reterive parcels )

following Haris's FLASH Demo 
I got FDO2FDO , king oracle provider instant client etc all setup as
instructed in the demo by haris 

now i Start Mapguide studio create a new data connection using King
oracle provider 
and enter the user name and password etc 
and the click Test Connection . and THAT IS WHERE I GET THE ABOVE ERROR 
(please chk the attached screenshots) 


SETUP 2 - MY DESKTOP 
I have installed 
MGOS 1.0.2 
ORACLE XE 

I USED FDO2FDO to copy my shp to oracleXE , I could do that sucessfully,

I crosschecked and the table was there in oracle database. 

Next I use Autodesk mapguide studio to try to connect to oracle xe (as
shown in haris's demo) using king oracle provider 
i still get the same error 
Can somebody please help me on this 


One thing that i could not understand in haris's demo was TNSNAMES step
for Instant client 
Can anyone please give me steps as to which file to edit and what to
insert for TNSNAMES 

I have been trying the same stuff again and again for past one week ,
but without any sucess 
Please help
