[mapguide-users] Buffer tool in the AJAX viewer

Does it depend on which features you're buffering? That could explain
the "random" behavior. I know with Sheboygan there are some parcels
that the buffer code has problems with.

Dave:
I'm using LL84 for the base map and selecting feet as the option in the
buffer page. It was working at one time, but now it's not. I just
can't seem to figure out why it works at times and other times it
doesn't. Same map.

Good day Juan,
are you using different coordinate systems? Does it sometimes work and
sometimes not within the same map?
Regards,
Dave

Well...My buffer problem is back. I'm really not sure what is going
here. Sometimes it functions properly, other times it just creates one
large buffer no matter what the parameters are. Is anyone else
experiencing this?

OK...For some reason, the buffer tool is working now. I'm not sure what
changes and why it would be working now.
There are some issues that I am seeing though. If I create a buffer, it
will not appear until I de-select the object(s) that were being
buffered. Sometimes (in most cases) it will not appear at all. The
only way it does appear, is by me zooming to my initial map view. It
shows up then. Anyone else experiencing this?

No, they are both running the same build: MapGuide Server (Version
1.0.0.16802).
For what it's worth, the machine it works on with Sheboygan is the Win
2000 box. The application it does not work on in either case is using
the WA State Plane, North Zone, NAD83, feet coordinate system.

For your Sheboygan sample, do your two machines perhaps have different
builds of MapGuide on them?

On both of my installs (one XP, one Win 2000, both .NET) with my
application, whenever I try to do a buffer, I get this error after
hitting the Done button: "Attempted to read or write protected memory.
This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt".
With the sample Sheboygan application running on the same machines, I
see the exact same symptoms you describe below on one machine, but it
works as expected on the other.

Has anyone been able to get the buffering to work in the AJAX viewer.
No matter what value I put in the distance and no matter what unit of
measure I choose, it just makes the same big red buffer that takes up
the whole map. Does this not work in the AJAX viewer?
