You cannot create tooltip and hyperlink expressions by API. They must be
defined in the XML layer definition prior to create the layer object.
Consider using Studio to create your layer definition if it's possible,
since it makes easy to define tooltip and hyperlink expressions,
otherwise substituting values in a pre-formed layer file as you
suggested is probably the easiest way.

Not sure. The layer is selectable. I didn't see the addition of
maptips and hyperlinks when creating new layers/markers. I would like
to create these on the fly along with the markers. I can create
Property Definitions, but didn't see a documented way to create the
I guess I could use another method of substituting values in a
pre-formed XML layer file. Just not sure if this is possible to add
maptips/hyperlinks programmatically.

Hi Juan,
There is a known problem with maptips/hyperlinks not showing in the AJAX
viewer if the layer is not selectable. Could it be the same problem
here?

Subject: [mapguide-users] Adding URL and tooltip to generated layer
Hello:
I've got the layer creation pretty much down, but I'm having some issues
with adding the URL and the tooltip info for the markers. Has anyone
been able to do this? I left the Tooltip in the XML definition file
for the layer. I hard coded with a value and it did not come up when
adding the markers to the map.
Any info is appreciated.
