print layouts

Hi all ... question on print layouts.  Do they only work with the DWF  
viewer?  The ajax viewer "Get Printable Page" doesn't allow a list of  
print layouts in Studio so I'm guessing that print layouts can't be  
used with the AJAX viewer.

Also, is there any way to invoke a print layout using the mapagent?
