[mapguide-users] Highway symbols

It's a shortcoming of MapGuide (but we hope to address that in the
future).
 
As for how to do the conversion to a point layer, I personally don't
know of an easy way apart from writing code to do it using the MapGuide
feature APIs. Someone else may have better ideas.

Well - I thought about converting the lines to points (or just
duplicating the layer for that purpose).  I'm just curious if that's how
everyone does it or if that's a shortcoming of MapGuide?
 
You wouldn't happen to know an easy way to do that conversion?

inability to use symbols to label polyline features. One option is to
modify the source code to draw highway symbols for polylines, rather
than draw the text. Another option is to generate a point layer with the
positions of the highway labels and then overlay that on top of the

instead of using the Text attributes for a given road or roads?  And, if
