Thanks Andy. I’m wondering if this might have something to do with being on Windows 2000. I’m going have to get a hold of a Windows 2000 machine myself and see what happens there. The tests that we did were on Windows XP.

Cheers
Tom

Hi Tom,
Sorry, no, I can't remember exactly what happened in those instances. I've installed and setup MapGuide at least 30 times now on various systems and this was something I ran into more than once. Once I got around it, I kept moving. I'll be sure to document it in the future.

Hi Andy,

If you are able to recall what steps you went through when it failed, we can track it down. And if an artifact is entered for this that will make sure that its progress can be tracked.

Hi Axel,

A couple of us here went through the steps that you provided and could not reproduce the error. Thanks for the detailed step. I did notice that the error came up if I had used the wrong case for the user name since the authentication is case sensitive. If you can still reproduce the problem, could you enter an artifact in project tracker with the steps to reproduce?

Thanks
Tom

Have you restarted the MapGuide service? I've seen some odd things happen when adding a new user through Admin and the change not "sticking" or having to enter the information again.

Subject: [mapguide-users] login: The specified user was not found

Hello List,

i have created a weblayout and can display it. Before i can see anything i have to login.
Using default user Administrator and password admin everything works fine. Using a user i created within the
MG Site Administrator it doesn't work. I get the following error:

The specified user was not found: Username Exception occurred in method MgSecurityCache.GetUserInfo at line 149 in file c:\build_tux_area\mgdev_opensource\server\src\common\manager\SecurityCache.cpp

I use MGOS 1.0.1, MS Windows Server 2000, IIS and PHP (should be 5.0.5 from the installation).

What I did in MG Site Administrator:
I created a first new group an a first new user. I put the new user in the new group. The new user is
a member of the built in group Everyone an my own group.
Like the an anonymous user the new user has no role like administrator or map author.
When i want to edit my new user there is nothing in the field Password. I expected to see at least the dots
representing the password i entered and confirmed the first time.

What I did in MG Studio, version 1.0.0.16802:
In the Site Explorer i edited the properties of the library i want to work with. In "permissions"
i added my own user group and set the permissions to read/write. The usergroup everyone
is still there.

Thanks for help!

Axel
