[mapguide-users] POOL:DWF or AJAX

I'm referring to the static template files that determine how the various components are fitted together in the web layout. You provided some pretty interesting workarounds a few months ago for some of the issues that I was having, but it still felt too confining for me. I wanted to be able to host two distinctive applications on the same server, similar to what we are doing with MG 6.5:

http://enviro.nanaimo.ca/index.cfm?tab_ID=3&content_ID=7
http://citymap.nanaimo.ca/

The default interface doesn't give enough flexibility without duplicating most of what was available on the front end.

Hi Jason,

What do you mean by being confined to one layout template per server? What type of layout are you referring to?

Thanks,

Alain

Of the two interfaces provided with MapGuide, AJAX hands-down. I really don't like being confined to the one layout template per server though.

I do like the idea of being able to generate a DWF from the server; good for creating to-scale prints.

Jason

Wich one you prefer?

For me, AJAX is better one.

Ajax:

-not needed plugin

-working with lot's of browsers

-visually looks better

-buugless

-more stable

DWF:

-faster

-better zooming, paning

Let's exchange expirience :-)
