[Mapguide_users] Import DWG fails

Yes, if you are defining a load procedure in Studio for a DWG and you are
instructing it to creature feature source data (under step 3 in the dialog)
then it is creating an SDF3 file for each incoming DWG component selected in
step 2. This would include any object data and link template keys (but not
other external link data) as attributes in the SDF3 file. If you tell
Studio in step 3 to create drawing source data, then it is creating a DWF
file for either each incoming component or will combine them all into one
DWF file (it's your choice).
If there aren't any feature classes defined in the DWG, then Studio tries to
build feature definitions from your selected components in step 2 which is
where DETE seems to have issues. So, yes, if you create feature classes in
Map and then add them to a Display Manager Map in Map 3D, then only load
that particular display manager map during the load procedure, it works
well. This would be the preferred workflow from a Map 3D/MapGuide
standpoint in that everyone starts to use feature classes. But in reality,
this is not always an easy thing to do and takes quite a bit of time.
Particularly when you just want to load a DWG as SDF3 data so you have some
control in MapGuide over its style, etc.

Andy, do you mean that Studio can convert DWG file format to SDF3?
Also, are you recommending for us to create feature class definitions for
the DWG files using autocad first ?
