[MapProxy] Improving tile contrast

Hello,

do I understand correctly that if I want image enhancement of tiles
beyond simple manipulations of color channels (like, increasing
contrast) I definitely need to run a WSGI middleware or some other
external solution?

Is there some ready-to-use solution for this kind of task or do users
have to set up this completely on their own from scratch?
