Hi,

two weeks ago I have filed the above mentioned enhancement request
(http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=434) in
order to add

"new functions numMetaData and keyMetaData to retrieve number and keys
of metadata entries" 

for usage in mapscript. Please see also

As I would like to see this feature included in mapserver, I would
like to know how agreement is achieved if the patches are included,
and if there is.
