One thing I would suggest is that we make a "road map" for MapServer 5,
and that the 4.x wiki pages would document the road to 5.
No one can really say for sure what the final MapServer 5 will be,
especially
since development (rightly) depends on what users need tomorrow, but
there are
some good goals we could set such as: thread safety, map objects
instantiated
from map config fragments, implementation of property acquisition in
the object
"tree" (classes acquire properties from their layers for example), etc.
Daniel, I noticed that in your page you collect features in groups that
are
quite close to the MapServer Components in Bugzilla ('Build Problems',
'Command Line Utilities', etc). Maybe we could formalize this and put
links
to Bugzilla from the wiki page and vice versus, and try to use Bugzilla
and
the wiki as complementary tools.
My only disagreement is that the development-odd/stable-even revision
numbering
is sorta pointless if we never have development releases. IMO.
