4.4.3 release?

Daniel, 

The main downside I see to it is that I already didn't backport
a few fixes to 4.4 under the assumption there wouldn't be a 4.4.3
release.  And a 4.4.3 release will tend to distract from uptake of 4.6
beta.  But that isn't a real reason not to proceed with it.
