CVS error

It's a template, what can I say. Can you roll back my last
change, back to your _template change?

What if we ever decide to expose it or if someone links with libmap.so 
and uses it? Using "tmplate" looks like someone made a typo, I was 
hoping a better name could have been found to avoid using the word 
template in the future but I have no good suggestion. At least _template 
made it obvious that something was going on with this parameter.
