Paul,

I think this is an excellent idea. I like the idea of better 
cartographic symbol support and support the USGS and Canadian standards.

While I would like to purge stuff that we know we are going to be 
moving, it is too late in the release cycle (IMHO) to do that now. I do 
think we can make a BIG note in the release to say that we plan to make 
additional changes in this area in the 5.2 timeframe and tell people to 
plan for this additional change post 5.0.
