[mapserver-dev] Configuring MapServer in Windows Azure

Hello all,

This is my first message in the mapserver-dev list.

I am trying to develop a worker role in Windows Azure that starts an apache
process (httpd.exe). My goal is to invoke mapserver as a apache cgi-bin
module.

Even though this is a Windows Azure and apache issue, can you please clarify
the following:

1. Is it possible to start MapServer without hosting its executable in a
cgi-bin folder? 
2. Can MapServer run independently of APACHE/IIS? For example, does it make
sense to start a new Process (in a C# code of a worker role) that will
invoke  mapserver.exe, without  apache/IIS running?
3. Does anyone has been involved in making MapServer work in Windows Azure?
