concept which might be handled as a separate RFC if required.

The primary document of the OGR feature styles can be found here

proposed implementation transforming the style strings to MapServer styles
is already in place, opposed to other formats that we could also use.
Can a user define there own style? How does this work? A simple example

Feature styles are considered as an existing metainformation at the data
source and it should be authored by using the tools suitable for that
particular format. For example your can create a MapInfo tab file containing
feature styles by using MapInfo Professional.
