[mapserver-dev] Improved support for (styled) dashed lines in Mapserver - RFC?

Dear Mapserver developers,

A recent thread ("Abandoned railroad symbol") on the
mapserver-users mailing list has given me a reason for
bringing up the (lack of) support for styled dashed lines in
Mapserver.

I have prepared a one page document that could be made into
an RFC, if needed.

In the document, it is argued that a new STYLE parameter
INITIALGAP is needed (ticket #3879), and that STYLE-> GAP
must specify the centre to centre distance between the
symbols (ticket #3867).

How to proceed?
