[mapserver-dev] Debugging symbols missing from shared library

Devs,
I am working on

https://github.com/mapserver/mapserver/issues/4369

and I need to backtrace&debug mapserver (java mapscript specifically) but
gdb can't find the symbols table even tough I have turned on --enable-debug.
I think libtool is the cause, but I don't know know how to restore the
symbol table.

Any ideas?
