[mapserver-dev] PSC Meetings

Thanks to those that have participated in the poll in the last couple of days. It looks like 6/27 at 8am (US CDT/GMT-5:00) gets us the most participation. I started an agenda at:

  https://github.com/mapserver/mapserver/wiki/PSC-Meeting-2019-06-27

feel free to edit as necessary. Just to decide where… If folks would prefer to start on IRC and move to Jitsi as necessary that’s fine. I put access info for both in the agenda.

The irc channel now works with slack and riot so it’s a lot easier. But I’m open to anything.

I might have been a little optimistic shooting for this week since responses have a been, um a little thin… I could push the poll out into July in hopes that might provide enough time for folks to juggle a meeting against their real job – and then we meet monthly after getting one in the books.

IRC vs Jitsi? Personally I’m not a huge fan of IRC for meetings beyond 2-3 folks but whatever folks what to do. You can record or live stream meetings in jitsi as well – we’d just need a MapServer YouTube channel.

Hi Steve,

Regular PSC contact sounds good. I might not be available much next week, but I guess we'll never get a date/time that suits everyone.
Once a month sounds a good schedule. OSGeoLive has one a week, but only during certain months building up to a release. It is done over IRC - a log of last week's meeting as an example is at http://irclogs.geoapt.com/osgeolive/%23osgeolive.2019-06-18.log<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Firclogs.geoapt.com%2Fosgeolive%2F%2523osgeolive.2019-06-18.log&data=02%7C01%7Csteve.lime%40state.mn.us%7Cf98e094d8ffb475cef4c08d6f8f426c4%7Ceb14b04624c445198f26b89c2159828c%7C0%7C0%7C636970124850659286&sdata=60I6PZncKAWv%2BZW97%2F2Qsm%2FR3OumiQuLy%2Fi1XQ1mG3A%3D&reserved=0>
We could start on IRC (which has the benefit of being a log for those who can't make it) and move to Jitsi if required?

The sprint is a month old and one of the tasks I had was to start organizing regular PSC/developer meetings using Jitsi. It would be great to get one scheduled for next week and then shoot for the last week of each month. Lot's to talk about:

  *   7.6 and 8.0 scheduling
  *   Jerome's SLD enhancement RFC
  * Github applications for backporting and dealing with aging tickets
  * WFS 3.0 - did anyone attend the OGC hack-a-thon?
  *   MapCache release
  *   MapServer demo(s) re-do...
  *   Other RFCs

A summary of the meeting at the sprint can be seen at:

I setup a Doodle poll at https://doodle.com/poll/54t3d3yh6khfeuay<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdoodle.com%2Fpoll%2F54t3d3yh6khfeuay&data=02%7C01%7Csteve.lime%40state.mn.us%7Cf98e094d8ffb475cef4c08d6f8f426c4%7Ceb14b04624c445198f26b89c2159828c%7C0%7C0%7C636970124850679277&sdata=qtXdjQVoWw5OcOpbtNaV1niOUw4kfjbmfIrDhicvtK4%3D&reserved=0> and we can see if it might work for folks. The meeting is not limited to PSC members...
