I heard in this list before that FreeType 2 is not very fond of GD.... or
vice-versa. Anyway, maybe you could try FreeType 1 (libttf instead of
libft).

With MS3.5, GD1.8, FreeType2.0.3, doing ANGLE AUTO in labelling some
roads, I am getting a very odd effect. The label is at the correct
angle, but the individual *letters* of the label are not correctly
rotated. They look sort of over-rotated. Imagine a word "WORD" written
at 0 rotation, but with the W, O, R, and D rotated all by 30 degrees.
That's the effect.
Any idea, causes/solutions?
