[mapserver-users] What is MSVCR70.DLL?

Tyler, Perry -

This DLL is needed by applications compiled to use the Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) as a DLL, and compiled on a machine that has the Microsoft .NET SDK installed on it. This is no different than older MFC runtime DLL requirements; it's just that this is a very new runtime DLL and most folks don't have it. The system running this application (mapserver, compiled this way) also must have Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher installed on it, since the runtime uses components from IE as well.

It seems, however, advisable to either compile the standard binaries on a machine that does NOT have the .NET SDK installed, or to compile mapserver to statically link the runtime libraries, or both.

Thanks Perry, I'm try it out right now. The 3.6 win binaries from DM
Solutions worked for me last night. I couldn't find an explicit 3.6.1
windows binary this morning on the mapserver site - I assume that you have
just overwrote the 3.6 packages? I just downloaded
http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/win32bin/ms36png_gdal_pg_wms.zip and I still
get the same error message when mapserv.exe is executed.
The message I get is:

"Mapserv.exe - unable to locate dll
The dynamic link library MSVCR70.dll could not be found in the specified
path c:\......bleh bleh bleh..my path stuff"

I've installed the latest service packs but still get it. I haven't seen
the .net update but I don't really want to go there.

Let me know if you want me to test further compiles to see it get fixed so
no one else bashes their head into the monitor :)

Tyler,

Hmmm... Microsoft.NET? Are you using the binaries from the MapServer
site? I recently installed the Microsoft.NET update through Windows
Update. Maybe I shouldn't have. Anyway, I'm compiling MapServer 3.6.1
to replace the 3.6.0 binaries. Try one of those binaries but give me an
hour or two.
