[mapserver-users] Tutorials for simple itemquery

Can anyone direct me to tutorials on setting up a simple item query a la
http://maps.dnr.state.mn.us/mapserver_demos/tests/itemquery/test.html1
style, using a drop-down box of values.
I'm just not getting how the pieces fit together and am a bit bamboozled by
javascript examples I've seen.  Can you suggest a good place to look?
