[mapserver-users] Data source question

Hi all,
hope this question is okay, allthough not entirely about MapServer:

I'm looking for a world map with just the essential features (main roads and
larger cities). Can anyone recommend, where to find this data (free or
commercial)? 

I've allready tried:
http://www.directionsmag.com/datacenter and http://www.gisdatadepot.com
