[Mapserver-users] plugging in a template to get cgi back

Your template file doesn't need to be html. You could make it key-value 
pairs like this:
map=[MAP]
mode=[MODE]
mapext=[MAPEXT]

or even XML. Maybe you would find those formats easier to parse.
