CGI Scalebar Label

I am modifying my scalebar through CGI parameters. It works fine except
for one small detail. The LABEL_SIZE is too small, and
'&map_scalebar_label_size=giant' does not seem to do anything. If I
hard-code the value to GIANT in the MAPFILE, it works fine, but I need
to change this value via the CGI interface.

All the other values can be changed fine, but I cannot seem to the LABEL
attributes. Has anybody done this before?
