Draw- zoom raster maps

Hi to all
I am working with mapserver 4.4 and java servlets, and I would like to know if someone has some simple code were to see how to draw a raster map (.tif, .jpeg) and how to manage it to make a zoom of one part.
Do I have to manage .map files?O only mapserver instructions? Or both?

If someone could give me some hints
