Let's see, I played with this a bit. I can't remember where I found
documentation on it (not in the standard docs, didn't see it on the
wiki). Might have been on the list, or maybe I poked around in the
source?
I think you first need to use an RGB image mode in the map file. Now,
in the symbol file, set up line symbols with TYPE CARTOLINE. There are
extra settings for symbols that apply to cartolines: linecap, linejoin
and linejoinmaxsize (maybe more). Then use these symbols in the map
file.
WARNING: it is VERY slow (I think that's GD's fault). I gave up on it,
that's why I don't remember the details too well. I found much better
speed drawing a normal map at 2x size, then scaling antialiased (must
use mapscript).
