Evening.

I've installed ArcIMS 4.0.1 on Windows (2000 Pro & Server & XP Pro)
it's normally quite easy providing that you following the instructions
on the ESRI website the letter.

The Windows installation guide is at
http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?
fa=knowledgebase.techarticles.articleShow&d=24171 and the full version
of the windows user guide is at:
http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?
fa=knowledgebase.documentation.viewDoc&PID=16&MetaID=81

When you've done the install, goto:
http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?
fa=downloads.patchesServicePacks.listPatches&PID=16&FilterPV=43&FilterTy
pe=8%2C5 and install all of the patches.

Best bet is to install on a clean machine and check the userguide /
forums as you can't use ArcIMS on a machine that has some thrid party
software and certain ESRI products (ArcGIS 8.x or 9.x, ArcGIS Server or
ArcGIS Engine).

If that fails using IIS and Jrun (which comes on the ArcIMS CD for
development purposes) and search the ESRI support site for instructions
on IIS Jrun and ArcIMS 4.0.1.

If you only have ArcIMS 4 the above links will be wrong but searching
on support.esri.com will find the correct versions of the
documentation.

Hope this helps,

Andrew
