[Mapserver-users] What is CONFIG parameter for?

I've seen in Mapserver 4.2 docs the new CONFIG parameter that was added for MAP object...

what is the main goal of it? to avoid re-compilation of MapServer for diferrents applications?

I saw it handles GDAL and PROJ options... what more can be done?
